The Japanese character for it is "盃", which is drawn on the original wood box by Hide with his signature and seal. It is excellent to enjoy Sake in hot, room temperature as well as chilled. This SAKAZUKI shows the ultimate attractiveness of Shigaraki-ware.
Sadamitsu drew "Shigaraki" (信楽 in Japanese), "Guinomi" (ぐい吞 in Japanese) and his signature at the outside bottom of the box. This is his "formal" way to draw those words and signature on his wooden box.
It could be also used to drink highest quality Gyokuro or Sencha tea. This was made by a great Shino -ware pottery artist Yu OKADA ( 1946 ~ ). He won so many honorable prizes at many prestigious art exhibitions in Japan.
This is an extraordinarily well-done Shigaraki-ware( ) Sake cup made by Katsunori SAWA. He was born in 1980 as a son of the most reputable and respected Shigaraki-ware pottery artist legend Kiyotsugu SAWA.
